Ashley & Travis | Iroquois Club Wedding | Detroit Wedding Photographer

The truth is, the thought of shooting weddings used to terrify me. I actually turned down quite a few weddings since I have started my business. After being a second shooter last wedding season I sort of warmed up to the idea a little bit, but I still didn’t think I could do it on my own. This year I decided that I really truly loved wedding photography and that I was going to go for it. Put all my fears aside and just put myself out there. It was the best decision I have made since starting my business 3 years ago. Don’t be fooled, I still get nervous before every wedding. It is one of the most important days in someone’s life and you can’t go back for a re-do if you miss a shot or mess something up. But this year I did it. I became a wedding photographer. It has honestly been one of the most rewarding feelings and it has forced me to grow so much as a photographer. The fact that someone likes my work (and me) enough to trust me and choose me to document one of the best days of their life is incredibly humbling and I don’t take any of it for granted.

Enough with the sappy story and on to the wedding! Ashley & Travis’ wedding day was so much fun! We got caught in the rain, but managed to make the most of it and get some awesome shots that have turned into some of my favorites to date 🙂 Oh I also got stung by a bee while we were taking bridal party portraits in the park, but we got through it 😉 The whole day was beautiful from the details to the ceremony and reception. Here are some of my favorites from the day!!
